Frequently Asked Questions

What medium is Cath's art?

Cath is a photographer using a novel digital collage technique perfected over many years.

Digital collage can mean any form of collage assembled or created using a computer. Cath's process starts off on location where she takes digital photographs of the landscape. Back in the studio she uses a computer to
blend the landscape photography with sections of additional photographs to add texture, colour and depth. These photos can be of painting or mixed media or more often, photographs and scans of surfaces such as rocks, peeling paint, scratched metal, rust, fabric, old
paper….all sorts of unusual things. Each finished piece might have between 10
and 20 layers of collage in addition to the original landscape photograph.

Are your products made in Scotland?

All our products are designed and printed in the UK, most of them at our workshop in Skye.

Cath creates and designs at her studio in Carbost on the Isle of Skye and has a workshop in Dunvegan, Isle of Skye.

Our giclee prints, ceramic and glass products, magnets, wall art and all our jewellery is printed and finished by a small team at Cath’s workshop.

The rest of our products, e.g. cards, notepads and table mats are produced in the UK as locally as possible.

What is a Giclee print

A Giclee is a print produced using a fine art digital high resolution printing process which uses pigment (rather than dye) based inks and extremely high quality archival / museum grade paper to achieve prints of superior detail, light fastness and stability. We do our own Giclee printing to ensure our prints are of the highest quality. We only print on archival quality fine art paper. When combined with our 12 colour pigment ink printing system, we can achieve perfect colour reproduction and produce beautiful prints that will look as good as new for 80+ years.

Are prints limited editions?

Our XL and XXL Giclee prints and canvases are all signed, titled and numbered Limited Editions.

Smaller Giclee prints are signed and
titled open editions.

Edition size may vary for specific images but is always 250 or less. Please ask if you require more info.

Can you arrange framing?

Mini and Standard sized prints are available to buy ready framed here on the website. Larger prints are usually shipped rolled in poster tubes for you to take to your local framer.

Can I buy originals?

The process used to combine the collage elements is digital so no physical originals exist. We offer limited edition collectors prints as an alternative to purchasing originals.

Will the print colours match what I see on screen?

We try to be as accurate as we can with our product images but please be aware that colours will vary slightly depending on your monitor and browser settings.
